CLEVELAND, OHIO... Already recognized as one of the industry’s most accurate and reliable piston block fillers, FEMC fillers have been updated to now include a state-of-the-art user interface. Since their introduction some 20 years ago, FEMC Piston Block Fillers have long been recognized as one of the packaging industry’s most precise fillers with an incredible accuracy of 1/10^th of 1%.

According to Les Weagraff, Chief Engineer for FEMC, this is due to FEMC’s patented design. "Because our fillers have a completely sealed design, we are able to draw the product into our block on a more consistent basis and guarantee a higher level of weight accuracy to our customers." FEMC Piston Fillers are capable of dispensing a wide range of viscosities from products as thin as water to slurry-like products, such as beef stew that contain large, soft particulates. And because FEMC Piston Fillers are designed "with extra large porting, it minimizes the opportunities for product degradation to occur," added Weagraff.

Now, in addition to amazing accuracy and reliability, FEMC Piston Fillers are extraordinarily easy to use. Unlike most of FEMC’s competitor’s products, standard FEMC Piston Fillers are now equipped with a state-of-the-art MTMI (Man To Machine Interface). This MTMI, consisting of a PLC controller (Programmable Logic Controller) and Operator interface controls nearly every aspect of the filler’s operation and allows the Operator to make changes right at the filler. And FEMC fillers also come standard with No Container / No Fill control, an additional cost feature on most competitors’ models.

The standard Operator interface is a sealed, waterproof touchpad with backlit 128x64 pixel LCD display. Optional interfaces include an LCD touchscreen, laptop software interface or networked connection to plant operations controllers. For those looking for non-electric systems, FEMC still makes its reliable, pneumatically controlled filler. What is, perhaps, even more intriguing is that FEMC has developed an upgrade kit for many previously purchased FEMC piston block filler models. This retrofit unit has the ability to breathe new life into old equipment; increasing the ROI for equipment, which may have been, considered "past its prime."

As always, FEMC piston fillers are constructed of stainless steel and are designed for versatility – allowing them to be incorporated into almost any existing line. A variety of options, including spreader valves and agitated hoppers are available as well as traveling heads which dip into, and travel with the container, maximizing the filling cycle. The systems are USDA compliant and can be completely washed down. Disassembly for cleaning can be accomplished in less than 1 minute and is completely tool-less.
