New Fresh Fruit Filler Offers Gentle Handling and Fast Changeover to Maximize Product Quality and Improve Productivity--- click here for hi-resolution release photo --- November 12, 2003 – FEMC introduces the new Fresh Fruit Slide Plate Filler to delicately handle the most fragile food products with minimal drop and minimal sheer. This semi-automatic, intermittent motion volumetric filler is ideal for products that previously required manual filling to maintain product quality. The Fresh Fruit Slide Plate Filler maximizes product quality while improving line productivity and reducing labor costs. FEMC designed the Fresh Fruit Slide Plate Filler to offer processors ultimate production flexibility. The filler handles a wide range of fill volumes, from single serve cups to club store bowls and party trays, with rapid changeover. Operators can make moderate volume changes without change parts by telescoping the top plate up or down with the hand-wheel. More significant volume changes are made by simply snapping different size inserts into the fill pockets. Configuration changes to accommodate a different number of containers per cycle are achieved by swapping out the sliding top and dead plate. Each of these changeovers can be accomplished without tools in less than one minute. Unlike traditional slide plate fillers in which the fill pockets slide, FEMC’s Fresh Fruit Slide Plate Filler features stationary pockets that minimize sheer and the associated product damage. To further reduce damage to fragile products, FEMC can minimize product drop by equipping the filler with an optional lift system that elevates the containers under the fill station to shave one inch off the drop. FEMC can also design a settling device into the filler as another option. With operators hand-leveling product into the pockets of the Fresh Fruit Slide Plate Filler, processors preserve the best product quality and achieve superior fill accuracy. Fill speed, which is limited by hand-leveling, typically reaches as much as 80 cpm. For less fragile products, FEMC can design the filler to be fully automatic with an automated leveling device. FEMC provides full line integration services and offers a unique indexing line and denester that can be married to the Fresh Fruit Slide Plate Filler to maximize line productivity. The indexing line features recessed cavities that hold the containers for positive handling and minimize product drop. The servo-driven, intermittent motion indexing line can be pre-programmed with product recipes to ease changeover. After a simple tooling change, the operator need only select the product from the control panel and all necessary timing and mechanical changes are made without manual adjustments. This recipe-based set-up can also electronically control the integrated FEMC denester.
